Matt‘s been running down his list of “50 Great TV Themes” over at Scrubbles. It’s worth a read if you haven’t seen it yet. His descriptions are full of great trivia, like the fact that the Futurama theme song is based on “E.V.A.” by Jean Jacques Perrey. I put a remix of that on “Lance in Space”! It all comes back to Lance.

  1. Kris, you don’t get Futurama in Australia? You poor soul. Anyway, I’m looking forward to Lance In Space. Fatboy Slim’s remix of E.V.A. is excellent.

I’m not sure if the Futurama theme is actually based on “E.V.A.”, but if you listed to the two side by side it’s impossible to think one didn’t influence the other. It’s not a remake, but the funky future vibe is the same. The Futurama theme can be heard here.

  2. Thanks for that! I agree with you; they’re very similar. I’ve only seen “Futurama” a few times. We get lots of “Simpsons” here, but that one just didn’t seem to catch on. I’m trying to talk Rodd into getting cable though, so maybe I’ll be able to catch up on what I’ve been missing. šŸ™‚

  3. THe Futurama theme is based off of E.V.A. I did a report on Jean Jacques Perrey, and found that out.
