For fans of @exercism_io – great talk by creator @kytrinyx! https://t.co/s5Jry04xNn
Our media centre power cord is similarly duct taped to the outlet because I kept accidentally pulling it while vacuuming. ๐ https://t.co/DrjvCnxX0K
@samthor My spelling changed quickly. The accent’s still going strong after 16 years though. ๐
@sammy_lee12 I’ve been trying to do one per week so far in 2018. I don’t usually draft in advance though.
@sammy_lee12 I’ve been doing them Sunday night, but it usually means I end up staying up too late. I need to find a better time.

@gilmae Do you mean the hardware or the software? I think in most jobs the expectation is that the employer provides what you need to do the role.
@gilmae To the extent where if you do provide your own as a freelancer, there are tax benefits IIRC
@gilmae I didn’t have a problem with BYO device when I was a manager though. I guess part of that is the tech culture in the organisation.
@zarahjutz Another grey tech shirt. ๐

Another handy way to secretly encode data into textiles! Now I just need to be able to dye my own yarn into very, very specific colours… ๐ https://t.co/RP7nwuCBoT
@glasnt @leesdolphin Floss is (somewhat) easier. With six strands, you could theoretically combine/mix them to create colours that don’t exist in the range.

@stephenlead Oh, I want one. But @the_snook won’t buy one until the “900 series” is available here. (He’s particular about his robots.)
A very chill @chewxy is kicking off the first #sypy of 2018 with a nice crowd at @OptiverAsiaPac! https://t.co/PeK26BQ8eX
Spotted some expert-level passive-aggressiveness in the ladies room and had to go get my camera. ๐ https://t.co/9lYmMomIUG
First talk is @pausanzleon talking about using #pyunicorn for non-linear time series analysis. #sypy https://t.co/xFhRP0I4FM
Anticorrelation and positive correlation are easy to understand, but they aren’t useful to explain nonlinear (chaotic) interactions. #sypy https://t.co/RMJlxgCtvN
Recurrence plots are a good way to visualise dynamic system data. AND they look like a great way to generate cool knitting patterns! #sypy https://t.co/WEhLgTmKVX
Brain wave activity is a great example of where non-linear analysis comes in handy! @pausanzleon #sypy https://t.co/VfE8ToW4tZ
@TeeganLee MY NIGHTMARE. ๐คข
Home automation with @seansonbronson! This is very relevant to my interests. #sypy https://t.co/8gCB8nqd4Z
Arduino issues: “I’m colour blind, so I chose the wrong resistors!” ๐ฎ I hadn’t thought about what a problem that would be! #sypy @seansonbronson https://t.co/mPB1QoJwSX
@dcotterill Is it in the men’s room too?
Impressive demo as @seansonbronson successfully used Siri to turn off his air conditioner via Raspberry Pi and Homekit! #sypy https://t.co/DAf4NAMMFt
Last talk is a gentle introduction to Asyncio from @OptiverAsiaPac’s own @grgsrs! #sypy https://t.co/0mX7ClEC2v
@stephenlead @the_snook You don’t even live in your house! Poor little Roomba is home all alone, abandoned!

TFW you come up with a great talk idea but you don’t want to forget it so you fax it to yourself for safekeeping… and then realise later it was a dream and you have no fax machine and you’ve forgotten it anyway. ๐
Well, this was a sucky thing to wake up to. Yep, I’m affected. ๐ https://t.co/kXbc3y9pxs
@codepo8 @JeffC1956 Okay, it *wasn’t* blockchain knitting groups. That’s one idea eliminated. Now I just need you to suggest every possible alternative in the world.
@MsAmandaDean @levelsconf @fendersperth @AshKyd Phew! Slight heart attack there. ๐
Just got an email from a meetup group organiser in Sydney that essentially says “Yay, I’m going to Silicon Valley but don’t worry, I’ll try to find SV jobs for you all if you’re good enough.” Seriously? WTF.
This attitude really irks me. Like the entire Australian tech industry is junior league, but if you work really hard, you too can achieve the dream of leaving for where the real stuff happens.
Actual quote: “Actually the important news I am announcing here is that, my new company [redacted] will provide job opportunities to work in the silicon valley for the best [redacted] in this group…”
“If you are keen and you believe yourself good enough, please donโt hesitate to contact me and send me your resume. Iโll introduce this opportunity in more detail in 2018โs first [redacted] meetup.”
LIKE… WHAT? Ugh.
