I was blown away when I was finally able to vote in my first Aussie election. Honestly, American elections don’t feel nearly as democratic. This description doesn’t even cover all of it, like the fact that Aussie elections are held on Saturdays so more people don’t have to miss work to vote. And preferential voting means I can vote for a minor party that best represents my interests, while ranking all the rest knowing that my vote will flow down the list in order. (No “throwing away your vote” on a third party!)

A few days ago we learned there is a Thing called Weißbierfrühstück where you eat pretzels and sausages and drink beer at breakfast, and oh god yes, we made that happen. 🥨🍻

Important Note

This site features content going all the way back to 2000. The posts you’ll read reflect my views and writing style at the time. While I have gone back to clean up a few of them, I think it’s important not to sanitise too much. This site is a record of who I am and how I’ve grown. Any blog post written years ago may not reflect who I am today, nor how I would write about the same topic today.
