I blame my father, really, for my inexplicable love of car chases and the Smokey and the Bandit movies. I suppose that’s why I got so caught up in this Wired article about an attempt to break the Cannonball Run record. Two complete geeks (with lots of money and very little regard for speeding laws) planned to break the 22-year-old speed record for crossing the US from New York to Los Angeles in a car.
