Check it out: I’ve been twinned! This is actually a really cool idea. I mean, you’re much more likely to check out a new blog if you think you’ve got something in common with the author. My new twins are:

  • a fire inside – I’d actually seen this one before and thought it would be a good daily read. Interestingly, I found it because Michele linked to my Roald Dahl site on her Banned Books page.
  • Interior Exterior – When I told Snookums about this twinning thing, he predicted that I’d get paired up with some 13-year-old blue-haired punk girl, and that it’d wig me out. Which is why I was a little wary of Amy, the 16-year-old Aussie author behind Interior Exterior. Turns out I needn’t have worried. She sounds really cool.
  • Orbyn – The tagline of this site is “the internet is shit.” And the author worked as a stage manager and web designer. And she admits to an obsession with alternative music. Forget “twin”; Robyn is my clone.

I’d like to submit some twins of my own, but it’s harder than it sounds. Some people are just one of a kind. I mean, where are you going to find another Max?

  1. I’m glad I’m not the 13 year old blue-haired punk you expected me to be! Thanks for the mention.

  2. Thanks everybody. I guess you all (or somebody) has been twinning me some more because the list has grown. I totally agree with you Max (Kim was the first weblog I ever read, and she pointed me to you, the second). As John said though, I’ve been avoiding twinning myself just because I’d rather see what everybody else’s perception of this site is. And since I’ve been twinned with such cool people, I guess it’s pretty good! πŸ™‚

Okay, I’m gonna go twin some of YOU…

  3. OK, now I’m worried. There’s all this talk of twinning as matchmaking, and all the weblogs I’ve been twinned with so far are male. Is someone trying to tell me something? Is Sore Eyes giving off entirely the wrong vibe or what?

Not that Darren, Ross, Ray and Tom aren’t very nice guys and all that…

  4. Hahaha… I don’t think everybody’s looking at it as match-making. I mean, most of my twins are girls. There are the obvious ones (like Kottke and Megnut – *groan*), but other than that I think most people are treating it as a “similar vibe” kinda thing. πŸ™‚

  5. This thing is weird. I didn’t even know I was on it till I found it in my tracker πŸ™‚
It’s pretty predictable, but a little odd. I’m not quite sure I get it

  6. Thank God I wasn’t the only one to *groan* at the Megnut-Kottke pairing (there’s at least one other “quasi-celeb blogger” real-life couple that got twinned on there as well–did you spot them? They got a groan as well…). Allow me to add an *eye roll* to that, with a touch of *sticks finger down throat to mimic triggering of gag reflex*

God I’m bitter–but at least I’m honest about it πŸ™‚

  7. Ooh, gossip. I only know about Megnut-Kottke. Who are the others?

I used to be bitter, but I’d feel guilty saying that now. I mean, I’m sure you’re all sick of hearing me talk about the Snook. My sister sure is, and she lives with us. πŸ™‚

  8. LOL at the other rl couple. I saw that and near enough barfed, jeebuz

  9. Dammit, who is it! I wanna know.

  10. Kris–check your email. Heh heh…

  11. Ahhh… I see. I don’t read either of them on a regular basis. But maybe I will, knowing that. πŸ™‚

  12. Hey, but at least my twin is someone I WISH I could date (um, if he weren’t a married straight guy).

  13. PS, in addition to Max’s favorites, there’s also real-life couple Powazek and Harrumph.
