@zarahjutz @GRobilliard Yay Maki! Who’s a good pupper?! 🐶 ❤️

@fbz I love it!

Interesting. Another woman just confessed to me “My Siri is a man.” I use the “male” English voice too. (The fact that assistants all default to “female” really irks me.) I wonder if that’s a common response from women… 🤔

ALL OF THIS. (And also – dudes sexually harass virtual assistants?! Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh.) https://t.co/JxIOXJdmTU

@chibit Thank you! Yes, all of that. Brilliant.

@yaazamAus That’s 3 of us then…

@twasink Same. So why did the first consumer-level ones come with female voices? Hmmm. 🤔

@hannahcancode It all comes back to my future thesis on The Patriarchy and the Lack of Functional Pockets in Women’s Clothing.

@twasink Google have a male voice, but not for the Australian accent. AFAIK Alexa only has a female voice. 😕

@twasink Hmm. At the AWS Startup Day a few weeks back, they claimed the system was called LEX because “it’s inside Alexa”.

@twasink Yeah, I know all that. It seems a rather tortured justification for Amazon not providing a male voice option though.

@jnowland I’m starting to suspect that male British Siri is the most popular. Everybody wants a JARVIS! 🙂

Massive congrats to @azadehkhojandi, who somehow managed to wrangle 15 women from the Sydney Tech community to dinner together! https://t.co/tFFPC9xSyE

@polleyg @IanMLewis I have never seen the word “arseways” before but instinctively I love it. +1 super useful

@darthted @evanderkoogh Took me more like 5 seconds.
