I’m at a Robotics conference in Hong Kong, hearing about how artificial intelligence will help humanity. Yes, some jobs will be lost, but new industries will also be enabled. There is tremendous potential to reduce inefficiencies, like eliminating medical treatments that don’t work and enabling loans to people without credit histories. A panelist just cautioned however against the “hollowing out of the middle,” which inspires fear and leads to “electing politicians who do crazy things.” That got a big chuckle.

Some of the smartest people in the world, laughing at the President in disbelief.

This is what it’s like now, being outside the US.

Important Note

This site features content going all the way back to 2000. The posts you’ll read reflect my views and writing style at the time. While I have gone back to clean up a few of them, I think it’s important not to sanitise too much. This site is a record of who I am and how I’ve grown. Any blog post written years ago may not reflect who I am today, nor how I would write about the same topic today.
