A day in the mountains. Blackheath, Leura, the fabulous Art Deco Everglades house and gardens, and Katoomba… 😅🍺

They’re not the Alps, but Australia’s Blue Mountains are still quite the view to wake up to. ⛰️

A lovely belated-birthday, early-anniversary dinner at Darleys at @lilianfelsbluemountains. The service was great, as was the food, wine, and view. ❤️

Time to get out of the city for a bit… 🚊⛰️

Week 3: Two of the new walls are built, and plumbing and electrical have been chased in. Our bathroom is finally a rectangle! The internet has been moved to a more practical location, and we can start to see what the back entrance hallway will look like. Next up is to fix the very uneven floor before plastering can begin… 🏠🚧

I’ve been waiting to play “Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley” for ages and it did not disappoint. Charming watercolour artwork, beautiful music from Sigur Rós, all my favorite Moomin characters, Little My being a hilarious jerk… and the gameplay is all about anti-authoritarian eco-activism. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer! ❤️

Him: “Which cake do you want for your birthday this year?”

This is 47. Thanks to my lovely colleagues for helping me celebrate. It’ll be a long day of airplanes, but my best friend is waiting at the end of it… ❤️🎂

Final morning in Spain. Their supply of excellent ham and cheese remains inexhaustible. I have failed you all… 😂❤️🇪🇸

Day 9: The builders have continued to demolish some things while starting the process of rebuilding others. Cables and pipes are being chased into walls. New wall frames are appearing. So far two unexpected issues: the concrete floor isn’t completely level, and they’ve found some plumbing leaks. Thankfully should be easy to address… 🏠🚧
