Holy crap; I was a User Friendly Link of the Day! I was just checking my server statistics, and geez, that’s the closest thing to a Slashdotting I’ve ever experienced. We’re talking more than triple my normal amount of hits.

The Evolution of Personal Audio
Check out this great photoessay on the “Evolution of Personal Audio“. It begins with the personal transistor radio and ends with the iPod. I’ve think I’ve had everything from the ghetto blaster onwards… (Except for the silly iPod snowboarding jacket. Nobody owns one of those.) It’s funny how quickly things date. I remember the Christmas when I got my Discman and how excited I was to have something so “high-tech.” Now when I see somebody on the bus struggling to change CDs while standing up it seems positively archaic.

9 Times the iPod Goodness.
So did I mention that the Snook and I both got new iPods on the weekend? Well, we did. We’d been thinking about getting new mobile phones for some time – since we both just have crappy pay-as-you-go Nokias – but we hadn’t done anything about it yet because we’re lazy. Then on Thursday the Snook discovered that Strathfield have a deal on where you buy a Sony Ericsson T610 and get a free 20GB iPod. Pretty sweet! We headed over Friday afternoon and spent hours waiting around while they transferred our numbers and upgraded our accounts. It was worth it though… I’ve even got a camera in my phone now! Oh yes, “moblogging” will be happening soon. This is, like, partial technological redemption for the whole TV-exploding debacle…

Bastard spammers
Who the hell are Aphrodite Marketing? My Yahoo account has been relatively quiet spam-wise lately (with most offenders being sent straight to the Bulk Mail folder) but these jerks have suddenly exploded into my Inbox in a big way. They seem to specialize in HTML emails where the actual spam pitch is contained in a big image, while the text of the email looks like a message from a friend. I keep reporting it as spam but the torrent isn’t slowing. Bastards.

Barcode Generator
Check out this Online Barcode Generator. I’m totally using this to generate stripe patterns for my knitting! How cool would it be to wear a scarf with a secret code in it?
