What a wunderschöne day for sightseeing in Nürnberg! Thank you @frank.prechtel for showing us your city. #beardtwins

We took 3hrs out of our sightseeing with @frank.prechtel for a beautiful lunch and copious day drinking at @joway_nbg. We had the place to ourselves. They customised the menu! We ate caviar! They brought out 26yo Australian wine for us! The “Arme Ritter” (pic 4) was the best thing I’ve eaten since the pandemic. Such an amazing experience. Danke Frank und Johannes!!

We ended the night at a tiki bar Frank recommended. My first drink came in a hollowed out pineapple, and the second was ON FIRE.

On our first double-decker train – the Munich-Nuremberg Express!

Hello Nürnberg! We toured the historic rock cellars below the city that were used for brewing, pickling, and air raid shelters in WW2. Then we had a fabulous dinner at @hausbrauerei.altstadthof, complete with local beer and whisky. @historische.felsengaenge

Thank you to @apronvienna for a wonderful birthday dinner to end our trip! The cake at the end was such a lovely surprise.

Departing Vienna, and walked past an area in the main train station where volunteers were welcoming arrivals and handing out water and supplies, presumably to those fleeing Ukraine.

I haven’t seen a coffee this big since the 90’s.

A cold and windy visit to Schönbrunn Palace, and then Wiener schnitzel for lunch with a view of the Danube.

Good to remember.

The Wiener Riesenrad (Giant Wheel) was for many years the tallest extant Ferris Wheel in the world, and featured notably in the films The Third Man, Scorpio, and (Rodd’s fave) The Living Daylights. We timed our ride perfectly for sunset!
