The snow is coming down, but we’re heading to the airport and enjoying our last maskless bit of fresh air for probably 19 hours. #reInvent here we come!

Made our connection in Chicago with like 9min to spare. Highlights of the first leg were 1) the lady who refused both of the lunch options on the grounds that she was “allergic to curry” and 2) overhearing a ton of people talking about “going to AWS”. #reInvent

He let me buy him the Belstaff. The Christmas markets are canceled, but I still had Glühwein as we shopped for gifts.

Back home in Munich and celebrating 14 years of married adventures with a special gin from our friends Emily and Clare. “Rhamanta” is the old Welsh custom of divining who your partner will be for life. Appropriate.

We made a special pilgrimage to the Belstaff store so he could try on the Milford (aka the Sherlock coat). Strongly tempted, but he’s worried he won’t get much wear out of it in Sydney…

We’ve been waiting over a year for this! I remember reading about the National Theatre production of @neilhimself’s novel and being sad that I was unlikely to ever see it. Can’t quite believe we’re actually here!

Enjoying my ice cream during the intermission. Thirty minutes after this I was sobbing in my seat at a sublimely beautiful scene involving PUPPETS. It was one of the most affecting things I’ve ever seen on stage, and I just couldn’t stop weeping. I cried the whole way back to the hotel and I still feel on the verge hours later. Thank you @neilhimself and the cast and crew of @oceanwestend for a magical and cathartic performance.

Welcome to The Valley of the Snooks! Today we tracked down the actual house the Snook’s Granddad was born in, 101 years ago.

My own pilgrimage today was, of course, to Roald Dahl Plass in Cardiff. (He was born there!) We also walked out to the Barrage where we found Crocky-Wock, the Enormous Crocodile.

We were very excited to get to see Emily and Clare’s beautiful new house in Swansea! (And to catch up with Em & C, of course!)

“This place has 700+ gins,” Emily Dibber said, “but they do this ridiculous pink one with candy floss.” Well, I had to go there, didn’t I? (You should’ve seen my face when the bartender pulled out a wodge of cotton candy the size of my head and then proceeded to stud it with edible flowers AND A CHUPA CHUP.)
