Blog post! I’m slowly working through my backlog of trips from this past summer. Towards the end of July, we took a quick weekend trip to Freiburg im Breisgau with our friend Scott. We were charmed by the city, ate good food, rode on Germany’s longest cable car, hiked around a mountain, and relaxed in a spa. Not a bad way to spend a couple days!

The Föhn is on! It’s a warm, dry wind from the mountains and it’s resulted in a warm, sunny Autumn day. We’re taking advantage by having lunch in the garden while we can… ❤️🍂🍁
Started the day in the office at 9am with my first in-person presentation since the pandemic began. Finished it at 9pm dressed as a unicorn on a livestream with Dennis Traub and two friends from Hamburg and Vienna. ❤️ What a day! Time for a beer… 🍺
I just read through like 99 birthday wishes just to make sure my Mom Susan Garberick didn’t beat me to it. 😂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEL!

Watching the Sun clear the mountains before our tour of Hohenschwangau castle. 🌄🍂🏰

Final day in Füssen! We visited Schloss Hochschwangau and then the city museum. We saw the oldest “Dance of Death” mural in Germany! And then the Snook was being ornery (he did NOT want the hat) so I put him in the stocks. 😂❤️🏰🏔

Started the day with a 90min hike around the Alpsee. Not too gruelling, but there are some tricky bits with rocks and mud and even a few footbridges. Worth it for the amazing views!
After the hike, it was time to climb alllll the way up to Neuschwanstein. We had a quick lunch and then started up the hill to get there in time for our English tour. (Pre-Covid they’d take groups of 60, but ours was only 6!) I do like Ludwig’s style… ❤️🏔🏰🍂
