A rather grey, cold, and rainy day in Munich. We decided to check out the inside of Nymphenburg Palace to see where our pal Ludwig II was born. Then we had a very hearty and warming lunch at the palace cafe. We were delighted to pick up a copy of Miroslav Šašek’s book “München” with its charming 60’s illustrations of Bavaria! ❤️

We missed you, München. ❤️ It feels so strange to think it’s been almost two years since we lived here. It feels like a dream of a different life. We took advantage of the sun and tried to stave off some of the jet lag with a jaunt through the Altstadt, Viktualien Markt, Englischer Garten, and then along the Isar. (Wow, it’s really high from all the recent rain!)

It’s 8:15am; we’ve been travelling for 24hrs; and the Biergarten in Munich Airport is having their birthday party. We can’t check into the hotel for hours, so…. Weisswurst Frühstück!🍻🇩🇪❤️ #wilkommen #muenchen

Civic duty complete! (We’ll be away on Saturday so we had to vote early.) After confirming my name and address, the poll worker handed over my ballot. “Is that an American accent?” he said, chuckling. “Our elections are a little different. For example, we actually try to HELP you to vote!” 😬 He’s not wrong. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes, and I didn’t even need to show ID. #democracy 🇦🇺

Very important and delicate mending complete! My lace dirndl blouse has a channel for a ribbon at the front so you can adjust the amount of décolletage you wish to display. However, mine was off-center and it always annoyed me. So today I *very carefully* unpicked the gauze, moved it, and reattached. It worked! #oktoberfestpreparation 🪡 🧵

Self-care is very important. 😂❤️

We are killing it in terms of productivity today: the Snook made some key progress in sorting out our retirement accounts, installed four new hooks in the bathroom and bedroom, and baked a blueberry buckle. Meanwhile I wiped an old MacBook and prepped for recycling, finally refilled the olive oil bottle, did three loads of laundry, and mended three shirts and a pair of pants. The collapse is imminent…. 😅

Things are still ticking away on the renovation. In addition to the remedial plumbing work happening outside, the HVAC guys came back to install our new office wall units as well as the compressors that power them. Should be all done by the end of the week… just in time for the landscaping to kick off. 🌳🪴🌸
