Week 9: The rendering is mostly finished! It’s nice to be past the “omg we wrecked our house” demolition phase and starting to see what the finished product will be like. The TV mount arrived today, so still working on the new living room wall. The kitchen tiled floor is also being adjusted to meet flush with the new wooden one in the dining room. And the tub is in! A tub I can actually extend my legs in! 😍 And now we find ourselves at critical juncture that has detailed many a Grand Design – ordering the windows. Wish us luck…. 🪟🤞#renovation

The home renovation continues, but we’re starting to collect some new pieces to decorate. I was thrilled to nab one of these deconstructed GameBoy pieces from @xreart_official!

Me: I’m leaning towards these new frames… but they remind me of someone?
Rodd:
I still ordered them. 😂

One of the big decisions for the renovation was whether to put in a fire. We don’t really need one for heating, but we liked the idea of one for coziness. We tossed up between gas (expensive, polluting) and electric (cheaper, less heat, not as pretty) before landing on a portable ethanol fireplace. It arrived today, and as luck would have it, it’s a perfect cold, grey, rainy Sydney Autumn day. This is pretty nice… 🔥

Week 7: Now that the plumbing fixtures are in, rendering can start! The builders have started covering up the bare brick and concrete, and patching where they chased in cables and pipes. We also decided to remove the visible cornice in the kitchen, so it’ll be gone everywhere except for our offices and the storage closet. They also put in the wiring for our feature lights in the living room. But even more exciting to me is the fact that the scaffolding on the Unilodge building at Broadway is finally GONE, after like 10 years I swear! 😍🏠 #renovation
