Yet another fun quiz. (Hey, it’s Friday! Cut me some slack.) This one asks you to identify songs that aren’t named after their most catchy lyrics. It’s pretty damn funny. I only got 5 out of 8 though.

Chocolate
How well do you know your chocolate? This site shows you cross-sections of various sweets and candy bars and asks you to identify what they are. Some are harder than you think. (And at least one goes by the British name, but if you can’t recognize that it’s really an M&M, you probably shouldn’t play anyway.)

On the Cover
NBC is developing a new game show titled “On the Cover,” which will quiz contestants on “pop culture trivia and the images featured on the covers of popular magazines, books, CDs, movie posters, TV title sequences and classic albums.” It’s supposed to be a cross between Entertainment Tonight and Jeopardy. KICKASS! The episode to end all episodes: Kristine Howard vs. Kelly McMahon vs. Sal Scherer vs. Liz McKillop.

An easy way to do a good deed: use your computer to fight AIDS. Really.

Grrrr.
Grrrr. Remember I told you about the female kicker who is suing North Carolina because she claims she was cut from the football team for being female? Predictably, N.C. is claiming that they cut her because she just wasn’t good enough. Which I could understand… except for the fact that she testified that her coach “told her she should give up kicking footballs and perhaps give beauty pageants a try.”

Norm!
Wow! I didn’t know that Norm from “Cheers” went to Notre Dame! And apparently he lived in Pangborn!
-
Rice
I always thought Charles Rice was a bit of bully and an asshole. Another student agrees with me.

Church abuse
Wow. Perhaps of interest to some: “Catholic Church reaches deal with accusers in abuse case.”

The finger.
Heehee. The Purdue kicker has been getting booed by the students a lot (a botched punt led to our victory this year), so after he kicked the game-winning field goal against Michigan last week he flipped off the student section. Now he’s apologizing.

Voting
Some people frighten me. This guy says that Bush is going to win Indiana anyway, so Indiana Democrats should give their votes to Nader. And then another guy says that since Bush is going to win so easily, real Indiana pro-life conservatives should give their votes to Buchanan. I think the first argument is ridiculous… “You’re not going to win, so why even try?” And the second is just scary… “Gore can’t win, so why not vote for the right-wing hatemonger?” WHAT ARE THEY THINKING? (It’s interesting to note that neither of these letters in the Observer actually came from students.)
