  • Diamonds suck.

    The Snook and I will definitely not be having diamonds on our wedding rings, and this is partly why. (Incidentally, I just learned an appropriate new word: “Veblen goods.” It refers to products that people only want because they’re expensive.)

    Good grief. If this AskMetaFilter poster hadn’t given her age as 25, I would’ve seriously wondered if I’d gotten up in the middle of the night and posted it while sleepwalking. This person describes pretty much all of my diet problems. At least I’m not alone!

  • TC Classes

    Today we finished the shop‘s schedule of classes for the first part of 2006 and they’re now online for booking. As I did last year, I’m teaching the three specialty knitting subjects: Cables, Colour, and Socks. And we’re even having kids’ classes during the school holidays this year! (I’m not teaching those.)

  • The Lost Art of Knitting Nancies. Very informative little article, that, with lots of pictures. (Incidentally, we sell “knitting nancies” in the shop but we call them “French knitters.” People used to make them out of wooden spools but you never find wooden spools anymore.)
