It’s always lovely when friends visit this part of the world! Thank you @shigeru_numa for making time to catch up with me tonight in Sydney. ❤️

We’ve checked out several of the new Metro stations in the past week. This one is Gadigal. I love how they’re all so different, yet futuristic and grand and open too. 🚇

We rode the new Metro, and we ate some pizza, and we saw a Talking Heads tribute band (complete with a big suit!), and we saw the remastered Stop Making Sense on a big screen with people dancing in the aisles. ❤️👔

Hooray! We are down to just one working fridge. 😅

Did you know Sydney has a cherry blossom festival? We went out to the @auburnbotanicgardens today to see the blossoms, eat chicken katsu sandos from @kenchancurry.au, and watch @hellokitty sing karaoke. 🌸🎋🇯🇵🇦🇺 #cherryblossomfestival

Progress update: The AC grills are on in the living room and bedroom! (Living room one needs the gaps at the sides filled, which will happen later.) Less attractive is the open trench alongside our house. Poor guy did it by hand so far and pulled out a lot of construction rubble. (Our neighbourhood is ex-industrial so it’s all backfill.) #renovation

Six months after the renovation kicked off, Phase 2* (Remedial Plumbing) has begun! Our building’s aging drains need work, and as the lucky ones on the end, we get to watch as plumbers dig a massive trench right outside our walls for new pipes. Will Kristy fall into the pit? Will a massive sink hole open up and devour Chippendale? Only time will tell! 👷‍♀️🚧

* Phase 1 (Interior) is still ongoing as bits and pieces arrive. Our exterior HVAC is on hold until the plumbing remediation is done, as is Phase 3 (Landscaping).

Is it even a renovation if you don’t paint something yourself? I decided to take advantage of the fridge being dead to paint the alcove where the new one will go. (It had unpainted render and old yellowish paint back there.) Primer yesterday, and now first coat today. 😅

No internet and no TV? Might as well go to the Medieval Festival! We had mead and watched reenactors fighting. Oh, and I did a lot of judging of costumes. (Goth elves? Not medieval. Hobbits? Also not medieval. Captain Jack Sparrow? GET OUT.) 🏰👸⚔️
