Sydney sewists: If you haven’t heard yet, @wearethefabricstore moved to Newtown three weeks ago! It’s no longer in Surry Hills. It’s south of Newtown station, just past the Greek Orthodox Church and the row of shops. Hang a left at the funny old filling station on Whitehorse St, the laneway opposite the button shop. It’s a nice big huge warehouse space with lots of natural light! How good is that?? 🪡🧵

Week 20: Everything is accelerating! The cabinetry is all done, and our wardrobes are stunning. Instead of a walk-in closet, we’ve now got a full wall as well as a little dressing area. The living room shelf and drawers are in too, though everything is covered up now for PAINTING. The skirting boards are being primed, and the chalkboard wall is no more. Also, the dining room doors now have a truly magical tiny flyscreen that accordions out – you can barely see it! (It’s held shut now by that line of blue tape to protect it from dust.) Lastly, the laundry sink has a pull-down siding door to close it up when we have guests over. Nice, huh? The best part is that all the critical stuff is due to be wrapped up in the next two weeks, so we’ll be able to move in soon!!

This is fascinating. I also really like the way they explain it, which makes it super clear and easy to understand!

My #knitting mojo has well and truly returned, which is a slight problem as most of my supplies are still in storage! 😭 Here’s the start of a replacement alpaca scarf for the Snook, who recently lost one. I’m using @morrisandsons Maya 8ply in a dense linen stitch. It makes for a lovely flat fabric with two distinct sides, but it’s slow going as you essentially knit every row twice. 🧶🧣

What a beautiful day! We went on an expedition over the Harbour Bridge to Cremorne, where we walked all around the point. It’s lovely! Sandstone cliffs, patches of regenerated native bushland, sailboats, formal gardens, stunning mansions, and many bush turkeys. Then we caught the ferry back for those million dollar views… ⛴️ ☀️ ❤️

Baby sweater is finished! Even managed to squeak out a matching hat with the remainder of the 3rd ball. The pattern is called “Peggy” from an old Patons Fairytale book. Lovely pattern, except for the lack of charts. (Oh, how I cursed. WHERE ARE MY COMPILABLE PATTERNS??) And of course, I modified it to be knitted in the round as much as possible. Details are on Ravelry if you’re interested… 🧶

Guess who just won a prize in her first ever meat raffle! #thisguy 🏆🥩😜

Donated to Kamala’s campaign before I got out of bed this morning, and got to tick a fun new box in the process! 😜❤️

Just got tickets. The Sydney show is Nov 6… which means we’ll either be celebrating Kamala’s win or kicking off the end times. 😱

Public service announcement for Sydneysiders: We will have a total solar eclipse on this date (July 22) in four years. That means TODAY is the best day for checking what the view of the sun will be like from your house or preferred viewing place. (If you forget and do it next year, you’ll be off by a day due to Leap Day.) We’ll be checking at my house between 1-3pm, but you can see the expected times for all Australia here: https://eclipse.asa.astronomy.org.au #eclipse2028 🌞🌑
