My sister – yeah, the one who called me and the Snook “pod people” – just sent me a link to this MSNBC article about three new studies that say the Atkins Diet is better at reducing cholesterol and weight than the traditional low-fat diet. She will be assimilated.

  1. Vindicated! You should show that stupid doctor of yours the article. The party-poopers are still saying there’s concern about its long-term effects on the body, but I figure anything that helps people reduce their cholesterol and body fat is better than nothing, right? I mean, high cholesterol is such a huge killer in Western societies.

    Still…I lurve my bread and pasta too much so I’m afraid Atkins doesn’t exactly light my fire! 🙂

  3. I had pasta last weekend for the first time in four months. It was good, but afterwards I felt all bloated and gassy. It sucks. Once you give it up you can see how crap it makes you feel. (As Dr. Atkins puts it, what do old Italian women look like? And what do they eat? Exactly.)

    Anyhoo – I think I’m gonna find me a new doctor, Claire. The medical center here in Newtown has relocated so I even have an excuse not to go back to him. Plus I finally got my Medicare card, so I don’t have to shell out forty bucks anymore for the privilege of him telling me my diet is crap. So that’s good.

    Amy – I told Rodd about our conversation this morning and he agreed that if you wanna increase the protein without meat, you’re gonna be eating a hell of a lot of eggs. Just something to think about…

    re the Italian women, yeah and look how long they live 😉

    Just cut out all unnatural foods ie soft drinks as much sugar as poss etc. If you want something sweet eat honey.

    That’s what I’ve started to do.

    Slowly losing weight here 😉 but I need to do more exercise.
