Whoa. Lismore’s been officially declared a disaster zone. I hope Major‘s family are okay…
Important Note
This site features content going all the way back to 2000. The posts you’ll read reflect my views and writing style at the time. While I have gone back to clean up a few of them, I think it’s important not to sanitise too much. This site is a record of who I am and how I’ve grown. Any blog post written years ago may not reflect who I am today, nor how I would write about the same topic today.

Mum and Dad are actually in Helsinki at the moment. I was a bit worried about my Nanna, whose shop normally ends up with about 1.5m of water in it when it floods. She didn’t have anyone to help her move all the dresses and stuff out, but I made some calls home yesterday morning and got some friends to go down and help her.
Luckily the new levee banks worked well. They were built at 11m and the waters peaked at 10.4m, which is a pretty average flood for Lismore. Not much water entered the CBD at all.
Good to hear. Now I’m just waiting for the news report that none of this crap actually fell in the damn catchment…
