I saw it on the SMH site first, but it wasn’t until Kevin confirmed it that I really believed: Obama has won the nomination. FANTASTIC NEWS on an otherwise crappy day!

Just had an intelligent friend in Michigan tell me that Obama’s Muslim. Thta’ll be a hard nut for him to crack in the US, won’t it? (I understand he isn’t, not that I care).

Hahaha… Yeah, I’ve had a few forwards from older family members about the Obamas plan to convert the nation to Islam. Just goes to show that Australia isn’t the only place where folks are irrationally terrified of people who might be different. 🙁

Thanks, Scott!
But I reckon if I knew he wasn’t – I was shocked she thought he was! And also that she cared.

That was Rodd’s reaction when I sent him the link. “No, the correct answer to the question is, ‘WHO THE HELL CARES?'” 🙂

Religion is and always will be a big deal, like it or not. JFK was the first Catholic President and that was a big deal at the time. You may not care (and neither do I) but their are 50 million undecided voters who will care, and that is the main issue.

Very true, Will. But JFK was actually a Catholic, whereas the speculation that Obama is a Muslim has more to do with ignorance.

He has to fight that stigma and the flak over the Church he used to belong to. Look for those to be hot button issues.
