Another guessing game for you. I’ll give you an Australian brand; you guess what the product/service is. No cheating and looking up on the Internet! The fun is in the invention. (And sorry, you Aussies can’t play this one.) Here we go:
- Oporto
- Big Kev’s
- Uncle Toby’s
- Mushroom
- Tim Tams
Just to reiterate (since the Snook doesn’t get it), the point isn’t to get them right. The point is to see what y’all think these sound like. It’ll be fun. I’ll throw out some hints in a few hours.

All right… I’ll give it my best shot.
1. Oporto: Hmm. I’d say it’s a wireless phone company.
2. Big Kev’s: Potato chips! Or, er, crisps, whichever you call them there.
3. Uncle Toby’s: A BBQ joint, perhaps? ;P
4. Mushroom: One of those fancy, overpriced specialty clothing stores like Hot Topic. This is the sort of place that’d sell those hideous Sept. 11th handbags. 😉
and finally…
5. Tim Tams: A chinese restaurant?
Sorry. I have no imagination when it comes to stuff like this. I was really reaching with the whole Mushroom thing.

2. big kev’s: steak house
3. uncle toby’s: i can’t get “used cd store” out of my head for some reason.
4. mushroom: one of those chain health food stores, like Fresh Fields or Trader Joe’s.
5. tim tams: australian for flip flops?

Oh, man. I feel the same about what Tricia said. I wanted to wait. Anyway,
A. Oporto – a internet service / DSL, etc.
B. Big Kev’s – a car dealership?
C. Uncle Toby’s – (this is the only one I felt strongly about before reading) – Def. a sporting goods store.
D. Mushroom – a kid’s boutique / clothing line
E. TimTams – hmmm…something like Junior Mints, or like those non-pareils that come on a sheet of wax paper?
*sigh*

Tricia – I didn’t even see that you said Tim Tams were candy! Great minds…

Ha! This is great. We’ve been pissing ourselves laughing at your answers. You’ve only come close on one of them – Tim Tams. They’re actually a cookie, but I’ll accept candy. (They’re bloody delicious too. Sorta like a crispy wafer sandwich creme covered in fudge.) I’ll give you some hints as to the rest: Oporto: restaurant. Big Kev’s: line of products you can buy in the grocery store Uncle Toby’s: another line of products you buy in the grocery store Mushroom: a label, but not for clothes.I’ll give you another day to guess, and then I’ll reveal the rest of the answers. 🙂

Mushroom: Stationary.
Tim Tams: I knew it had something to do with chocolate.

Ding ding ding! Bill has successfully guessed Oporto. It’s a fast food restaurant that specialized in Portuguese (‘piri-piri’) chicken. Very good.
Big Kev’s is a brand of cleansing products, mostly laundry detergent. It was started by this big fat guy (Kev, naturally) who appears on all the packaging.
Uncle Toby’s is cereal and granola bars. Uncle Toby’s Raisin Flakes, Uncle Toby’s 080920 0:19:24 [ERROR] /usr/local/libexec/mysqld: Incorrect key file for table ‘./xsystem_poswomen/mos_modules_menu.MYI’; try to repair it
sic to Neighbours though!
Good guess, everyone!

Ooh, Aim, don’t know if I mentioned it in your package, but I keep my Tim Tams in the fridge. They’re even better cold!
