omphaloskepsis: contemplation of one’s navel as an aid to meditation

That’s my new favorite word. Wouldn’t it make a great title for a weblog?

you obviously get the same “word-of-the-day” e-mail I do… I was trying to find reason to use omphaloskepsis all day (especially as I was feeling particularly ophaloskeptic on saturday… def 2, indisposed to motion!)

  2. Yep, I’m a Merriam-Webster girl. I’m really happy with it so far. I expected it to be more “here’s a word you’ve probably never heard of!”, but instead it’s like the majority of them are words I know but with interesting trivia about their etymology. I like that.

Important Note

This site features content going all the way back to 2000. The posts you’ll read reflect my views and writing style at the time. While I have gone back to clean up a few of them, I think it’s important not to sanitise too much. This site is a record of who I am and how I’ve grown. Any blog post written years ago may not reflect who I am today, nor how I would write about the same topic today.
