New Poll: How do you celebrate Easter? Are you all about the religious side of it, or do you revel in chocolate and bunnies? I’m happy to report that I haven’t received a single dreaded Peep this year. (The fam seems to have finally gotten the message that I loathe the buggers.) I really wish I had one of those Jello Jigglers egg molds though.

  1. Ha! The thing about Peeps is you never know where they are going to pop up. Even in Autstralia, you can never be truly safe from those buggers.

  2. Are you hinting that you put some in our Easter package?? πŸ™‚

  3. definitely revel in chocolate and bunnies, particularly the red tulip elegant rabbits. the great thing about easter is it is an excuse to eat as much chocolate as humanly possible. i wish i could say it was all about showing humanity towards others etc, but it’s all about the chocolate i am afraid…

  4. Ack! I still don’t understand how you can hate Peeps, man. They’re so light and fluffy and covered in sugary goodness! Along with Cadbury Creme Eggs, Peeps are the only other candy I really look forward to.

    Sigh… Stupid no-sugar Atkins diet… πŸ˜‰

  5. Ugh. You just named my other least favorite Easter food. (Incidentally, my sister loves both of those too.) *shudder*

Don’t get me wrong; marshmallows rock. I just think they need the right accompaniment. Graham crackers and melty chocolate? Kickass. Sugary cereal bits? Rock on. Hell, I’ve even been known to eat a fluffer-nutter sandwich. But sugar-encrusted freaky-looking baby chicks? No way man.

  6. Me thinks you are gonna be gettin peeped. haha

  7. Well, I won’t know for a few more days. Rodd won’t let me be an Easter sneak and open it early. πŸ™

  8. Moire, if you haven’t tried the Atkins indulgence candy bars, you really should. I think the peanut butter cups are better than Reeces. If you can’t find them in the grocery store, you can get them at the website.

I’ll be eating lamb, asparagus, and strawberried (sans shortcake), which is what we always had when I was growing up. And hard boiled eggs, of course, decorated Martha-Living-style.

I never liked Peeps, either. They have Cadbury eggs now w/o the sugary filling, that have a chocolate center, as well as Snickers eggs and Reeces eggs. Mmm… chocolate…

  9. Hey, Tricia! I’ve actually had a few of the Indulgence bars, and I like them a great deal. I’ve also tried some of the Russel Stover sugar-free chocolates, and find them to be decent, as well. It’s too bad that there isn’t more of a selection of sugar-free candy, especially at the grocery store… I’d buy the whole lot! πŸ˜‰

I’ve even recently tried some sugar-free Easter candy. It was a huge chocolate fudge egg. Mmm. I found it at the Wal-Mart, but, alas, they have since run out. Now if onlyCadbury would make sugar-free Creme Eggs, I could truly die happy… πŸ™‚

  10. I’m still shuddering at the thought of Peeps. EW!!!! As for Cadbury eggs, I can’t stand the creme ones, but I love the caramel and chocolate. And Midwest Boy puts his two cents in about the Reese’s peanut butter eggs. I think I shall have to agree with him. But at the top of my Easter list right now – Sweetart Chicks, Ducks and Bunnies. OMG, I’m salivating right now just thinking about them. I wish they were available all year long (I mean in chick-duck-and-bunny form, not the plain jane sweetarts form.).

Oh god. I think I’m going to have to go out and make myself an easter basket of all the kickass easter candy. Damn you – all of you!!!!

  11. Damn YOU all and your access to tasty sugar-free treats. We don’t have ANY Atkins stuff here, and there’s no way I can afford to import the stuff. What happened to all the sugar-free food? I remember there being tons of it in the 80’s. Nowadays all you find is “fat-free”, which translates to “laden-with-sugar”. That said, I found some great generic sugar-free “apple” candies at our grocery store the other day. The only problem is that they use some dodgy artificial sweetener, hence the warning on the package: “Excessive consumption can have a laxative effect.” I guess it’s a small prices to pay for something sweet and low-carby to suck on at work.

  12. Hmm. A care package might be in order…

  13. Does the Atkins web-site not mail to Oz? (That’s how I got my last batch along with my lipostix which told me I was not in ketosis).

  14. I’m sure they do. It’s just that it’s way too expensive to send here, especially with the Aussie dollar only worth 60 US cents. πŸ™

I can get ketostix here, though. I found them at my local pharmacy with the diabetic supplies.

where can you get lipostix? the Atkins site doesn’t seem to have them nor my local pharmacy? i’m in New York.

  16. Hmm. I guess ask around and maybe look in the Yellow Pages for diabetic supplies. That might be your best bet.

  17. Carol

you can find Ketostix at drugstore.com. You can use them just like the Lipostix.

  18. hi, just started the atkins diet, not sure its working though πŸ™ is anyone else in same boat?

  19. Hi Emma. You should check out the ketostix or lipostix mentioned above. If you can turn one pink, it’s working. If not, you may have to make some more changes in your diet (as Atkins mentions in the book).

  20. Shirley

Please some one tell me if Lipostix are less expensive than Ketostix. It is a luxury to me and sure would like to find a better price than I have been paying. Thanks for any info please email and besure ti put in the subject title Liostix or I won’t know who you are. thanks a whole bunch. Shirleym997@aol.com

  21. How did my discussion about Easter candy turn into a Lipostix support group? Find a real diet site, people!
