Aww, man, I’d kill for some Girl Scout cookies, no matter what you call ’em. I love all three of those kinds if anybody’s got some extras. 🙂

I haven’t seen a Girl Scout in two years. I don’t know where to find them around here. I figured they would be in front of the grocery stores, but I’ve yet to see any.
I prefer Samoas and then maybe Tagalongs but that is it. Edy’s ice cream puts out a line of Girl Scouts ice cream. Thin Mints, Samoas, and TagAlongs. Last year I bought Samoas ice cream for me and Thin Mint for everyone else. I loved every drop of that ice cream.
Oh and a few years ago Little Debbie put out these little cake/cookies that could have been a samoas long lost relative! I only saw them on the shelves for a few months though.

It’s feast or famine in the case of Girl Scout cookies, I guess. I bought some at work, and was guilted into buying another box today at the grocery store. Sorry, Kris.

When J. and I went to Lowes today to get a few things for our new apartment, the first thing to welcome us as we entered the front lobby was at least six Girl Scouts surrounding a HUGE table piled with boxes of cookies. Since we’d just had a nice lunch at O’Charley’s, we decided to pass on the cookies this year. They were all out of Tagalongs, anyway.
I wondered about the cookie name change, myself. When I lived in DC, the cookies were called Peanut Butter Patties and Caramel deLites. I was mad about it at the time, because I assumed the cookie names were changed because they, I don’t know, offended someone. I feared the P.C. Police stepped in or something.
But today I noticed the cookies on the table at Lowes sported the old names I remembered from my own Girl Scout days. Made me feel better. It’s good to be home! 🙂

I have a real soft spot in my heart for the Girl Scouts. I was in it for a couple years in elementary school. I don’t think I ever earned a single badge but DAMN we had fun. Also, if you need another reason to support them (besides their awesome cookies), they’re catching flack from some Texas weirdos because they endorsed a sex education program from Planned Parenthood. God forbid we raise some girls who aren’t ashamed of their own bodies!
And hey, Moire, are you guys all settled back in the Fort? That rocks! We’re so meeting up next time I go home. 🙂
