Sorry Sis, but I just found a great site discussing the ending of Half-Blood Prince and I have to share it. It’s in the comments though, so you won’t be tempted to look at it. (Don’t even mouse over the link. The URL is a massive spoiler.) And if anyone wants to discuss it, let’s remember to include spoiler warnings to keep the home page clean…

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH. Okay, here it is. Remember, do NOT mouse over that link if you haven’t finished the book! (Link courtesy of miftik.)
Okay, so I think that site makes some pretty good arguments. I’m no longer convinced at all that Snape has gone to the dark side, nor that the big D is really dead. Thoughts?

Okay… just a couple of brief (and not well-thought out thoughts):
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.
“Why did Dumbledore freeze Harry? Harry was already invisible to their attackers and in no danger” — this argument is easily refuted. Dumbledore simply did not want Harry to be involved in the battle and expose himself to injury or death. Do you really think it is in Harry’s nature to just stand by and hide while his beloved mentor is under attack? Doubtful.
However, I am MOST impressed by the argument that you need to MEAN unforgivable curses. If (as I currently believe) Snape and Dumbledore were working together, Snape couldn’t have possibly killed Dumbledore with an unforgivable. Intriguing!
And wow, the Fawkes argument i) Phoenix’s have healing powers, and ii) Dumbledore’s body was AWOL… VERY interesting indeed!
“Dumbledore is flammable” – man, I totally missed that bit of symbolism. I really need to re-read the book.
Now, most of the Snape clues I’ve already considered, and tend to agree with.
What a great link; lots of food for thought. Thanks for sharing, Kris!

There once was this person who knew that I knew that they knew that I knew that they knew that I knew. Hopefully that was enough filler.
The whole unforgivable curses thing got me! I did find it interesting that the line, “He cannot kill you if you are already dead.” wasn’t in the UK version. So obviously they have worked out how to seem dead to everyone but not really be dead.

That bit was actually the hugest clue for me, miftik. I’m fairly certain that line isn’t in the Australian version either. I’ll have to check, but I remember reading it on that site and being like, “WHOA. That changes everything!”
