Nope.

Guardian Media Group today announced a strategic partnership with Open AI, a leader in artificial intelligence and deployment, that will bring the Guardian’s high quality journalism to ChatGPT’s global users…

Suspect you know more about this and this informs your worries. Can you share what you wrote to them to help my understanding?

    1. Simply that I was disappointed they chose to partner with and feature a technology that is actively making the world worse. The environmental impacts of these Large Language Models are horrendous – though the recent Chinese DeepSeek model is somewhat better – and they were trained on stolen and pirated material. They’re also bullshit generators, and The Guardian knows it.

Thanks Kris. Didn’t know about the environmental stuff, thanks for that.

Important Note

This site features content going all the way back to 2000. The posts you’ll read reflect my views and writing style at the time. While I have gone back to clean up a few of them, I think it’s important not to sanitise too much. This site is a record of who I am and how I’ve grown. Any blog post written years ago may not reflect who I am today, nor how I would write about the same topic today.
