Oh, right. You’re all off watching some football game right now, aren’t you? Yes, they are showing it live on television here. Of course it’s Monday morning, so everybody’s at work instead of sitting at home, eating nachos and mocking Kevin Federline. But for the record – GO COLTS!

Regan took the day off work – so I can’t decide whether he’s an Aussie bludger, or an overzealous American today.

Actually, Australians don’t care about the Superbowl. Well any decent Australian doesn’t.

You know what I think is un-Australian? Posting as an anonymous troll.
(And I totally would’ve taken the day off, tracey, except right now we’re too understaffed!)

only someone that doesn’t care about the Superbowl can use the word Un-Australian, means nothing otherwise.

Yeah, he told us (sisters) by a text picture of a prenancy test. You know he has to tell us all at the same time, or we get mad. 🙂 (I countered with a picture of my pills). Dad’s happy like a little girl. I’m pretty sure we’ve all been bumped down the ladder, but we’re very excited.

I’ve never really been a fan of gridiron. I just didn’t understand it until an American friend explained it to me a few weeks ago as chess in football form, which I found fascinating — I’m prepared to give it a second chance now. I do love baseball though (I don’t know anything about the teams, I just love the game).
Anonymous reminds me of someone I saw walking around DJs a couple of months ago, wearing a t-shirt that said I’m scared of Americans… because, you know, it’s not racism when you’re talking about Americans. Or something. Things like that give the rest of us lefties a bad name.

Gridiron depends very much on the level at which it’s being played. Amongst little kids and high school, it’s more like rugby where it’s just a crazy kind of free-for-all. Athletic ability makes more of a difference. In college and especially professional football, the teams are more evenly matched and that’s really when the chess element comes into it.
Me, I like it more for the spectacle. It’s like a circus. Same way I am with baseball, really. It’s just fun to be outside with lots of people and cheer and drink beer and watch marching bands and stuff. Go to a college game sometime if you get the chance. It’s sooo fun. 🙂

PS – If you end up going to school in Chicago, you will learn to appreciate gridiron very quickly.
