Knitting Rain Man

Sometimes I get really tired of being the “knitting Rain Man,” the person who’s expected to know every single knitting pattern and yarn EVER, and who constantly gets interrupted all day by questions about it. And I’m not talking about interruptions from customers; I’m talking about staff. It’s flattering to be the go-to person, but I think I’m about done with it.

    Awwww 🙁

  2. I know. Whinge, whinge, whinge. I guess it’s just that I’m sick of being asked the same questions every single day. I like when people give me challenges. The other day, a design student was looking for a “gnarly wool” that he could use “for dreadlocks.” That’s a million times more fun than “Do you have a NICE long-sleeved cardigan?”

Yeah – I do get it (when I worked at IKEA and Lincraft it was the same for me).
But its all part and parcel of the being the Knitting-Machine you are!

Important Note

This site features content going all the way back to 2000. The posts you’ll read reflect my views and writing style at the time. While I have gone back to clean up a few of them, I think it’s important not to sanitise too much. This site is a record of who I am and how I’ve grown. Any blog post written years ago may not reflect who I am today, nor how I would write about the same topic today.
