MetaFilter wonders: Which one is the hip pocket? My gut reaction was the front pocket, but the sources seem pretty conclusive that it’s the rear.

Dude, it’s the front pocket, you know, the one that actually touches your hip, not your butt. People who claim otherwise are whack.

Hey, I agreed with you both! But… the issue of the hip flask is problematic. It totally wouldn’t fit in a front pocket.
I wonder if “hip” in hip flask refers to a inside lower pocket in an old fashioned overcoat… not pants at all?
