  • Geek Girl Runner Episode 003

The third episode of the Geek Girl Runner podcast is now available! Right off the bat, I just have to apologise for the voice quality in this one. I caught a raging cold on Monday night, and I just didn’t want to wait any longer to record so I sound quite stuffed up. I was also radioactive (yes, seriously) and possibly feverish so I probably ramble a little more than usual. At any rate, thanks to everyone who listened to the first two episodes and gave feedback. This episode features: my (non-)training update; emails, comments, and shoutouts; and a discussion about running injuries.

Thanks as usual to Nick Arthur for the use of his song “Little Donut Party”. Please give me some feedback and let me know what you think!

Ooh neat. Here’s what they gave me: http://bit.ly/15qTi2. Very pretty… for a man-made unstable isotope.

Worst part of radioactive bone scan: pulling off the medical tape over the ouchie on my arm. Yanked out about 1000 hairs!

I’m headed for Round 2: Nuclear Boogaloo. Should have the verdict soon enough…

Definitely no fractures & no plantar fasciitis! No bone issue at all. So it’s soft tissue. Hopefully doc will clear me to run tomorrow.

@cdeagle Apparently PF usually shows up where it attaches to the bone. They didn’t see any of that.

@AusVintageGrrl That’s what I’m hoping. Today marks a full week of rest. I may have hurt it with self-massage though.

@carbolicious I just got a spam email from your Yahoo. You got a virus?

@thisismywww It’s been there for ages. It just hides at the top and you have to flick the screen down to see it. πŸ™‚

Putting together Geek Girl Runner Episode 3 right NOW!

Geek Girl Runner Episode 3 is now available! http://bit.ly/9gjdZ3 I think it may be the world’s first radioactive podcast.

Great news: I am officially cleared to run again! Well, as soon as I kick this frackin’ cold that is.

Just got my last @knitabulous yarn club package. Yay!

My @knitabulous package: http://twitpic.com/13bsr3. LOVE! St Brigid is going straight into that awesome project bag…

On top of everything else, I suddenly have a sore throat. I really, really don’t need to be sick right now.

@cdeagle Fix it up on the website! You can drag the points around. πŸ™‚

@cdeagle That looks way better! I often find I have to do that in the city when trees/buildings interfere with GPS.

@cdeagle Still tender and slightly swollen. Going in for bone scan tomorrow morning. πŸ™

Watching Biggest Loser. Snook: “If some dudes beat me up on the oval, I’d go Ender on their ass and poison their lunch boxes.” BWAHAHAHA.

Taking my sore foot and my sore throat to bed. We’re only 6 weeks into 2010 and healthwise it’s SUCKTASTIC.

Heading to Newtown to get a bone scan on my foot. There’s no way this diagnosis is going to be good. I’m actually hobbling today. πŸ™

I’m going to be radioactive for the next 24 hours! Pregnant women and children beware. (Doc says I probably won’t get superpowers. Damn.)

No glow-in-the-dark, AFAIK. But I’m trying very hard to read thoughts on the 426 bus. Not much luck yet.

  • Baking awesomeness

This one’s for my sister: tutorial for dΓ©cor sides. This is a technique where instead of writing words on a cake in icing, you actually BAKE the words INTO the cake itself. Pretty neat.

  • Romeo and Juliet

Kevin has done a mammoth post about love songs for Valentine’s Day, and you should go check it out. The big revelation for me though was that the Killers did a cover of “Romeo and Juliet” by Dire Straits. How did I not know this?! That is one of my favorite, favorite songs. Kevin prefers the original, but I’ll always have a soft spot for the raw desperation of the Indigo Girls’ version. (I remember drunkenly belting that out many times with my college roommates. Yeah, I hung out with a lot of lesbians.) That said, I really like the Killers’ version too. Just bought it off iTunes, in fact…

Damn. Already did 1 extra repeat on sleeves, but I think I need another. WILL IT NEVER END?

Snook the cocktail waiter is plying me with White Russians. The Dude abides. Happy Valentine’s Day!

@venks79 Nice one! Wish I could run. πŸ™

It appears I’m going to be at work 20 minutes early. No idea how that happened.

Bone scan is booked in for tomorrow! Should know within a couple days if I can resume running.

Guild meeting went GREAT. We had 49 people there! Letter got approved. Jenny H’s talk was fascinating. *phew*

@mrs_sockvictim Are you at SSK? I’m bringing the letter there shortly…

    @redambition @mrs_sockvictim Be there in 5-10 minutes…

Thanks @mrs_sockvictim for the lovely Moomin kerchief! I feel very chic w/ Hemulans, Hattifatteners & Little My. http://twitpic.com/12xcf5

Watching Buffy’s “Hush episode. Snook says: “Dude, this is what Twitter is for.” SO RIGHT! RT THE GENTLEMEN ARE COMING!

@crumpet Nah. He reads my tweets in his RSS reader.

@witty_knitter I think I must have missed that bit!

REM fans: who sings the “I have seen things you won’t ever see” harmony in Try Not to Breathe?

Heading to physio to determine if foot pain is just strain or something more sinister.

In addition to not running all weekend, I get to have a bone scan on my foot. Next GGR topic: dealing with injuries, I guess!

@sharre Ooh, what time will it occur? I’ll make a note in my agenda. πŸ™‚

@zephyrama @Ascasewwen There will be no brawling! SuperConvenor is going to retain control if I have to wield a whip. πŸ™‚

@venks79 Well, the hope is that it shows there’s no big problem and I just have a pulled muscle. We just have to eliminate that first.

It’s bucketing down. BUCKETING. I know it’s good for the plants, but I really hate it. And there’s the thunder…
