Inaugural post. Just testing.
Apparently there’s a story in the new Marie Claire that asks famous women whether they’d prefer to be described as “smart” or “sexy.” Salon reports that Cindy Crawford prefers “smart” while Jennifer Lopez prefers “sexy”. Okay, A) BIG surprise there with those answers. NOT. And B) what the HELL kind of story is this? Are we still so un-enlightened that we think it’s not possible for a woman to be BOTH sexy and smart? Stories like this just perpetuate the myth that a girl has to choose between brains and a man. And lastly C) I previously thought I had lost all respect for Jennifer Lopez back during the Puff Daddy thing, but somehow she’s managed to lower herself even FURTHER in my estimation. Congratulations, Jen.
This Salon story about the 10 most disturbing trends in Hollywood made me laugh. Especially the part where the author rips on Jewel.

As I reported before, Channel One’s flannel-shirt-wearing journalist extraordinaire, Anderson Cooper, is going to be hosting that new reality game show, “The Mole.” This article about him has all sorts of interesting facts for us Cooper Fans, including that his mother was millionaire heiress Gloria Vanderbilt! Who knew? Also, you don’t have to worry about our man selling out (i.e. Jeff Probst). He says: “If I had to claim tribal council was a sacred place or hand a tiki torch to someone, I knew I’d shoot myself in the head.”
And it’s back to the fun links! This in-depth comparison of various anti-perspirants and deodorants is not only informative, it reminded me a lot of Kel’s sister Kristy and her troubles with “Righty.” I also liked all the trouble the woman went through to devise the rigorous testing procedures. It looks like Secret Platinum is the way to go, girls.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY! I hope your holiday was as good as mine. Rodd and I made a full turkey dinner (just for us!) and opened presents and vegged in front of the TV all day. It was great. The real high point: switching to Channel4 and finding the filmed version of the production of “Oklahoma!” that the Royal National Theatre did two years ago… with Hugh “Wolverine from the X-Men” Jackman as Curly the Cowboy. Hot damn. God bless the BBC. *grin*

heya weasels! howie has been kind enough to invite me to be the west coast correspondent for Weasel ‘Blog. i feel like it’s the first day of school in a new town, or sumthin: should i CapiTaliZe? would i be super lame if i plug my own ‘blog? (blogspot is down at the moment…) what happens if i try to be funny and fall flat on my face [again]? anyhow, i did bring something for show-and-tell that is somewhat dated but remotely PW/ND related. the e-mail by which i learned of this defamatory blather stated that one should not write a letter to the editor, but rather contact the columnist directly. maybe eternal damnation is too steep a punishment for unjustly slamming our Alma Mater, but being on the wrong end of a spam deluge should teach him a lesson. 😉 (Posted by Brigita.)
